There’s now one, or more accurately, four more reasons to get an Epiphone Les Paul Studio or Les Paul 100 electric guitar. According to a recent news release, Epiphone will give out an Electric Essentials Pack free with any one of the two guitars, from August 1st to September 30th this year.

The pack will contain a premium 20′ cable, a nylon guitar strap, a 12-pack of picks and a Masterbilt acoustic video. Admittedly, these are nothing to die for, but they are free.

P.S.: I wonder whether they’ll be giving out this pack to those who win a Les Paul through their recent sweepstakes.

Of course, while this does mean that you’ll allow Epiphone to send you e-mails on stuff you might not like, you can easily mark their e-mails as Spam if you really don’t want to see them. Music Gear Review is host to another short electric guitar review, but this time it’s of the Epiphone G-400. Unlike the rest of the reviews we’ve seen recently, this one isn’t particularly favourable for Epiphone.

The reviewer awards the G-400 an overall rating of only 3 out of 5 as he found quite a number of problems with it (primarily regarding durability). He then concludes that, “I wouldn’t risk buying this guitar if I were you. I would reccomend saving up a little extra money and buying a les paul. Les Pauls are a lot sturdier.”

If you can’t get, or rather, can’t afford to get a Gibson Firebird VII, but just love its specs and reliability, you can count on the Epiphone 1963 Firebird VII to save your butt. At least, that’s what we gather from a user review of the Epiphone Firebird VII over at Ultimate-Guitar.com.

Now, ratings tend to tell everything, so let us just let the 10 out of 10 rating assigned on this guitar tell it all. Well… maybe not. The rating’s actually a bit too high for my comfort. So, let’s go for the user conclusion instead: “Man this thing is awesome, I’ve been playing for years and it is by far the best feeling guitar I played. I would definetly try to buy this product again used, as it was recently discontinued, well I guess you can always upgrade to the Gibson! It’s amazing, looks amazing, everything’s great. Will even get you some women.”

No difference, right?
